Vitamin D – daily need for most adults – 5,000 to 10,000 iu daily. Possibly helpful for any health condition, especially for bone and muscle health, immune system, pain, inflammation, prevention of cancer and heart disease.

Omega Three Fats – found in cold water fish, egg yolks, grass fed meats, cod liver oil, fish oil capsules. The best natural anti-inflammatory. Daily needs – 500-8,000 mg combined EPA/DHA. No EPA or DHA in vegetable forms of omega 3 called alpha linoleic acid (ALA). Conversion of ALA to DHA/EPA less than 5%. Essential for brain and eye health.

Magnesium – 400-1,000 mg daily. Used in over 300 enzymes. Natural muscle relaxer and pain reliever, precursor to serotonin and dopamine. Depleted from soils, sugar and insulin resistance deplete body stores. Always consider magnesium for pain, muscle tension, cramping, anxiety, insomnia and constipation.

Nearly everyone needs to supplement vitamin D, magnesium and omega three fats.

Other beneficial nutritional supplements
Vitamin C – 500 mg or more. Anti-oxidant, good for bone and adrenal health, detoxification. Intravenous high dose vitamin C for severe infections and cancer.

Vitamin B12 – 50 mcg. to 50 grams preferred form – methylcobalamin. For nerve pain, bursitis, chronic tendonitis, fatigue, stress. Found only in animal foods. Possible deficiency associated with low stomach acid.

B-Complex – B vitamins associated with protein, depleted by stress, sugar, alcohol and grains.

MSM – A sulpher molecule helpful for detoxification, inflammation, joint pain, arthritis. 1-6 grams daily

Curcumin – an extract of the spice tumeric, curcumin is an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, beneficial for pain and inflammation, preventative effects for heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's. 400-2400 mg. daily

Zinc – 15-30 mg. – for wound healing, weak immune system. Stretch marks and white spots on nails indicate zinc deficiency.

COQ10 – 50-400 mg. – Preferred form ubiquinol. Useful in preventing heart disease, fatigue, oxidative stress.

Lipoic Acid – 50-900 mg. – both fat and water soluble anti-oxidant, recycles vitamin C, E. Good for liver and kidney health, detoxification.

Folic Acid – 400 mcg. to 60 mg. – Also called vitamin B9, prevents heart disease, cancer, cervical dysplasia, birth defects. Any sexually active woman of child bearing age should supplement as it is most effective at preventing birth defects before conception.

Vitamin A – 5,000-300,000 iu – Worldwide deficiencies cause millions of deaths and blindness in children. Very good for skin, eye and immune health. High doses of beta carotene will not yield therapeutic amounts of A. Sexually active women of childbearing age should not take over 5,000 iu daily.
